About Anam Jafri, DO
We’re excited to welcome Dr. Anam Jafri, a compassionate and skilled OB/GYN, to our practice. A Hampton Roads native, Dr. Jafri was born in Hampton and raised in Yorktown. After graduating from Tabb High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from the University of Virginia.
Dr. Jafri went on to attend the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, where she trained as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). While both DOs and MDs are fully licensed physicians, DOs receive additional training in a more holistic approach to care—emphasizing the connection between mind, body, and spirit, and focusing on how lifestyle, environment, and emotional well-being influence overall health. This perspective continues to shape how Dr. Jafri cares for her patients: with empathy, thoughtfulness, and an emphasis on the whole person.
She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she received specialized training in high-risk pregnancies, minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgery, and patient-centered care. During her residency, she was honored for her research contributions and her commitment to teaching medical students.
Dr. Jafri is passionate about building strong, trusting relationships with her patients, and making sure they feel heard, supported, and empowered in their health decisions. Whether it’s your first annual exam, family planning, pregnancy, or menopause care—she’s here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
Outside the office, Dr. Jafri enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing board games, and volunteering with local rescues to foster cats and kittens. She’s thrilled to be back on the Peninsula and is welcoming new patients!
