Infertility is defined as not being able to conceive after 6 to 12 months of intercourse without birth control. Approximately 12% of women in the United States have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term.
If you and your partner have been trying to conceive without success, you may consider an infertility evaluation.
An Initial Fertility Assessment
An initial fertility assessment can be performed by your gynecologist and may include a history, physical exam, lab work, ultrasound, or other specialized exams. If further evaluation is needed, your Mid-Atlantic Woman’s Care provider may refer you to a reproductive endocrinologist.
