About Katie Burkey, CNM

From a very young age, Katie knew she wanted to work in women’s health and deliver babies. In pursuit of this goal, she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Centre College in Danville, KY, followed by a Master of Public Health from the University of Kentucky. Throughout college and afterward, she worked as a nursing assistant in nursing homes, as well as a COVID unit, and postpartum unit at UK Hospital. It was during this time she realized she wanted to be a nurse-midwife. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, completed clinical rotations in a variety of settings in Minnesota and Tennessee, and is now a Certified Nurse Midwife through the American Midwifery Certification Board. Katie feels honored to be a nurse-midwife and be present for some of the most important moments and decisions a person will make in their life. She believes in empowering her patients to make the best decisions for themselves and their families.

Katie is married, and in her free time enjoys all outdoor activities including running and camping, as well as crocheting, pottery, and painting.
