About Kristen Heye, MD
Dr. Heye is a board certified OBGYN and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, she graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston with a Distinction in Global Health. Continuing to serve on an international scale, she joined the Navy and completed her residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. During her time on active duty, she operated on both coasts, cared for refugees in Virginia, provided relief in Cuba, lead the OBGYN department in Spain, and deployed to Latin America on humanitarian missions. She joined WomanCare Centers after separating from the military to continue making an impact on this diverse community in Hampton Roads.
Dr. Heye is skilled in minimally invasive surgery and has a special interest in perimenopausal care. She is particularly passionate about healthcare equity and caring for individuals with limited English proficiency as she is fluent in Spanish and has a heart for this community.
Dr. Heye loves to dance and ultimately married the man she invited to the floor of a country western dance hall in Texas circa 2012. They now have two precious children together and live in a multigenerational household with their grandmother, Ramona, who loves to travel and join in on the Heye family adventures. While Dr. Heye is a much better OBGYN than dancer, she’s been a part of a performing Flamenco group in Andalucia, and you may run into her and her family at our local Latin Dance hotspots.
